The European Union has launched a new political framework for tourism. The 21-point action plan aims to boost tourism in the region including combating the issue of seasonality.
This is the EU’s first action after it signed an agreement as part of the Lisbon Treaty. Plans include developing a European heritage label to promote tourism. A pilot networking program will be launched bringing together research institutes, universities, regional and national authorities and others. The cost of the framework has not been revealed.
