The Pacific Asia Travel Association has announced that demand in Asia Pacific increased 10% in the first quarter of 2010, compared to the same quarter in 2009.
International visitor arrivals to South Asia grew by 17% year-on-year in the first quarter. Southeast Asia destinations reported strong growth with a collective gain of 16% year-on-year. China reported a 4% increase with the sub-region as a whole growing by 8% for the period. International arrivals to the Pacific grew 6% dominated by an increase in visitor numbers to Australia and New Zealand.
