The 'value' of sustainability for the hotel sector report 2012

Sustainability, green, corporate responsibility – all are current buzzwords on the lips of senior hotel executives. But like nailing the proverbial jelly to the wall, investors seeking actionable definitions are left struggling.

The new report from Hotel Analyst , “The ‘value’ of sustainability for the hotel sector”, helps bring clarity to an increasingly important area of business.

Five of the leading hotel groups are analysed and their activities are put into the wider context of corporate social responsibility. Data from the hotel companies, press releases, academic journals, press reports and articles were all used as sources. In addition, individual one-on-one interviews were conducted with key hotel executives who head CSR activity in their organisations.

With sustainability increasingly viewed as a key component of measuring the worth of a company, this report details the issues and challenges in general and drills down to the specific impact for the hotel sector.

For each of the five companies examples of best practice are examined along with how well or otherwise CSR information is communicated. And whether rhetoric is matched with action is judged.

With CSR, and variants such as corporate shared value, emerging as a vital metric for investors, this report equips investors in the hotel sector with the most current and important thinking.
