Host's European joint venture has bought six hotels on the continent for Eu565m including the assumption of Eu434m of debt.
The biggest property involved is the 757-room Paris Marriott Rive Gauche, the conference hotel bought by Marriott from Accor in March 2006.
The other five hotels were also all Marriotts, and comprise the Renaissance in Amsterdam, the Renaissance Paris Hotel La Defense, the Renaissance Paris Vendome, the Courtyard in Duesseldorf and the Courtyard Paris Defense West – Colombes. In total the six hotels comprise 1,954 rooms across three countries.
The latter property was the prototype for the new-look Courtyard for Europe developed by Marriott and opened in September 2006.
Host's JV, which is with Dutch pension fund Stichting and GIC, the Singaporean government's property investment wing, now has 17 hotels with nearly 5,500 rooms in eight countries.
