• Cameron to ease visa applications

Prime minister David Cameron said that the government would "remove some of the obstacles that put people off coming here", including increasing online visa applications.

Cameron said that tourism was critical to economic recovery, contributing £115bn to the British economy every year. He added that ministers were looking at a wide range of issues "from the speed of our railways to the time it takes to clear customs at Heathrow" to make the UK more attractive to tourists.
