• Casino boom planned for Sri Lanka

Indian listed company Delta Corporation has announced plans to invest 10 billion rupees ($225 million) over the next three years in casino developments in Sri Lanka, Sikkim, Daman, and Goa. The plans will take advantage of booming tourism, Delta’s chief financial officer Hardik Dhebar told Bloomberg.

Visits to Sri Lanka were up 47% in the first 8 months of 2010, compared with the previous year, according to the country’s tourism agency. Gambling is not permitted in many Indian states.
