• Consumer confidence to push air travel

Consumer confidence has been renewed after a difficult year in 2010, according to a study from Cheapflights.co.uk.

The group said that air fares were likely to grow this year, driven by tax increases and a 5% rise in demand over pre-2008 levels. Francesca Ecsery, global sales director for Cheapflights Media, said: "Things are really looking up for the New Year, particularly with this last bout of bad weather, which has pushed many to go in search of sunny, bargain escapes."
