• Dubai sees rebound in hotel occupancy rates

A Dubai government official has been reported as stating that hotel occupancy rates have rebounded from below 50% to 80% this year.

Mohammed Shael Al Saadi, chief executive officer of business registration and licensing at the Department of Economic Development, said at a forum that the figures showed the emirate’s recovery from the global downturn. He claimed, however, that Dubai was no longer a city of luxurious hotels and even seven-star hotels were now affordable to ordinary tourists.
