The Financial Times has reported that the chairman of Taiwan-based Formosa International Hotel Group said he hopes to revive the Regent brand by bringing it back to Hong Kong, New York and London.
Steven Pan said that he was "committed to global expansion" after the company recently completed its acquisition of the Regent chain from Carlson Hospitality Group and Rezidor Hotel Group. Formosa hopes to raise up to $500m from private investors to open new hotels in Hong Kong, New York and London in addition to the 10 it already has in the pipeline. The group said it will acquire existing hotels in Europe and the US. China is expected to play a big part in its expansion.
