• Hotels lagging in confidence monitor

The global hotels and restaurant sector has seen optimism about its prospects for the coming year fall, according to KPMG’s latest Global Business Outlook survey.

The survey found that a net 23.9% of respondents were confident about the future, down nine percentage points since the previous quarter’s score in February 2010. However, Richard Hathaway, head of travel leisure and tourism, KPMG, said: "Hoteliers, particularly those in London who benefit from an international customer base, are seeing a return to growth, with both occupancy and room rates on the increase again."
