• Kempinski mothballs Dubai hotel

Hotel operator Kempinski has delayed the opening of a 253 room hotel on Dubai’s palm island, concerned about oversupply in the market. The part built hotel’s opening will be put back to 2013, according to a report from Bloomberg.

Kempinski EMEA head Ulrich Eckhardt criticised Dubai planners for failing to match supply and demand in the market. The company remains committed to the region, with its next opening in Bahrain in June.
