Lodging Econometrics predicts 671 hotels will open in the US in 2012, a rate nearly level to that forecasted for 2011.
The firm, which analysis US hotel real estate trends has also revised its forecast for 2010 and 2011. It predicts 705 hotels will open in 2010 and 673 hotels in 2011. Supply growth rates before hotel removals from the census are estimated at 1.7% for 2010, 1.3% for 2011 and 1.3% for 2012. These subdued rates will aid in accelerating the recovery of the industry, the company said.
