• London drives 2010 growth

London hotels saw rooms yields increasing by 12.5% on 2009 to £119.12 last year, according to PKF, driving growth in the UK as a whole.

Robert Barnard, hotel consultancy services partner at PKF, said: "By contrast, the picture in the regions is less rosy largely due to corporate belt-tightening with business travel and accommodation budgets remaining strictly controlled. Countrywide, England and Scotland achieved rooms yield growth of 3.6% and 1.5% respectively while Wales was down 0.7% due to an annual drop in occupancy of 0.7%."
