• Marriott raises room rates in North America

Marriott International’s North American hotel room rates rose for the first time in two years during the month of May, according to an interview with CFO Arne Sorenson.

Room rates for Marriott’s company-operated properties rose 1% against a year-ago period. Revenue per available room rose 9% during this same month. In the second quarter, which runs from March 27 to June 18, rates look set to be flat compared with the same period a year ago, while revpar should rise 7.3%.
