• Overseas visitors to UK up 10%

Overseas residents’ visits to the UK increased by 10% to 7.7 million for the three months to July against the previous quarter, and up 3% on the same period last year.

The Office for National Statistics reported that overseas earnings for the period increased by 21% to £4.6bn. Sandie Dawe, chief executive of VisitBritain, said: "Although major challenges remain, it is particularly encouraging to see that inbound holiday tourism began to grow again in the past three months."
