• RBS moots Jarvis ownership

Royal Bank of Scotland is reported to be considering taking ownership of Jarvis Hotels, after failing to find a buyer for the business.

The 40-strong Jarvis Hotels was taken private in 2003 in a £229m deal and is reported to have breached its banking covenants several years ago. RBS is the main lender to the company alongside HSBC and Bank of Ireland, and is thought to be looking at a restructuring under which the banks would take control.
