• UK of two halves, says PwC

Performance has been split across the UK, with London hotels beating records on rate while provincial hotels struggled to improve, according to PricewaterhouseCoopers’ latest update.

In London, second quarter rate was up by 7.5%, against forecasts of 4.6%, amid reports of a return to upscale hotels by business travellers. Outside the capital rate was down by 1.4%, in contrast to a predicted increase of 0.9%, with declines continuing to be recorded amid the threat of public sector budget cuts.
