• UK rates up 14%

UK hotel room rates in January were up 14% on the year, according to the Trivago Hotel Price Index.

Against the previous month, the group said that the majority of UK cities experienced a fall, with London dropping 14% from December to £130 per night for a standard double room – its lowest point since August 2010. The European average fell 2% to £88, and 29 of the 50 top cities in the index were offering cheaper rates than in December.
