The UK travel industry is optimistic about the future despite bracing itself for another year of relatively low growth, the annual Barclays Corporate Travel Forum Survey has found.
The survey polled 110 senior travel industry executives. Around 43% believe business conditions for their operation would improve in 2011. Only 23% saw a 20% increase in sales volume in the year to date but 78% saw sales value stay the same or increase in single figures. Around 73% of travel companies predicted conditions would improve in 2012, while 85% predicted their business will be better off in 2013. Around 23% expected no impact from a public sector spending squeeze, and another 69% predict only marginal effects.
