• UK VAT rise fails to dent demand

The increase in VAT in the UK has had no impact so far on demand, according to research by Rubicon.

The company said that average daily rates for January were up 18% on the year, with demand in the group market rising by 8%. Looking ahead to the Royal Wedding on 29 April, the group said that committed occupancy was up 166% on the year.
