• US deals outstrip 2009

The US hotel sector has seen 77 hotel deals, valued at a total of $8.5bn so far this year, according to Dealogic.

During the same period a year ago, 30 deals were closed totalling $1.2bn. "We know we’ve reached bottom, and we know a recovery has started," Bjorn Hanson, dean of the Tisch Center for Hospitality, Tourism and Sports Management at New York University told the New York Times.
