US hotels saw occupancy increase by 7.0% to 67.9% in July, with rate up 1.3% to $99.14 (£63.61), and revpar rising by 8.5% to $67.35, according to data from STR.
The luxury segment reported the largest rate and revpar increases. Mark Lomanno, president of STR. "The demand for rooms continued to be well above 2009 levels, and we are finally beginning to see signs of room rate recovery, especially in the higher end of the market. In the coming months, we hope to see more balanced RevPAR growth as operators begin to accelerate room rate growth."
