Dusseldorf Melia sold

Union Investment has bought the Melia hotel in Dusseldorf for for its UniImmo Deutschland fund. The 201 room four star hotel opened in 2009 and Melia has 16 years remaining on the lease.

Hilton has signed up to a new campaign by VisitBritain to make the UK more welcoming to Chinese visitors. The China Welcome initiative will launch in spring 2014, encouraging businesses to cater to the needs of Chinese visitors.

Starwood has signed to reflag two hotels on the island of Upolo Samoa. Aggie Grey’s Hotel & Bungalows and the nearby Aggie Greys Resort will reopen as Sheratons in mid 2014, with 198 and 140 rooms respectively.
