A lack of luxury hotel rooms, high prices and visa requirements mean the Sochi Winter Olympics will see few US sports fans. Tour operators expect American visitor numbers at the event to be the lowest in 20 years, reports Bloomberg.

Sochi organisers still have 30% of tickets unsold, three weeks out from the event’s opening, while hotel prices have spiked 121%. With few direct flights to the area, and the challenge of obtaining a visa to visit, a last minute rush is not expected.
