Hiltons for sale
A package of five UK Hilton hotels is being offered for sale with a price tag of GBP170m. The 870 room portfolio includes the 132 room Hilton Hyde Park, and is being sold by a consortium of private investors, reports Property Week.
Peer to peer accommodation site AirBnb contributes GBP502m a year in economic activity for the UK. Bookers through the site stay an average 4.6 nights, and spend more than double the average visitor, according to research by the Centre for London.
Trump for Rio
The Trump Hotel Collection has signed to open a new hotel in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Facing one of the city’s beaches, the 13 storey, 171 room hotel is scheduled to open in 2016.
Customer satisfaction with the hotel sector is drifting downward, with higher prices and occupancies to blame. Scores in Europe and the Americas fell, while rankings rose in Asia, reports Market Metrix.
Best Western hails growth
Umbrella brand Best Western expects to add more than 130 new properties in 2014, of which almost half will be new builds. Last year was the most successful in the brand’s history, with four new countries added and 98% of member hotels choosing to renew.
