Hyatt for Heathrow

Hyatt will open its first upscale Hyatt Place hotel in the UK close to London’s Heathrow airport. The 170 room hotel is scheduled to open in spring 2015 in a converted 12 storey office block.

Blu for Hull

Carlson Rezidor has signed to open a Radisson Blu hotel in Hull. The new build hotel, delivered by partner Manor Property Group, will have 168 rooms and is due to open in late 2016.

Marriott sells in Barcelona

Marriott has sold the Renaissance Barcelona for EUR78m. The deal, including a EUR45m cash element and the assumption of debts, sees the Qatar Armed Forces Investment Portfolio take over the long leasehold interest on the property.

Discount deal struck

The UK’s Office of Fair Trading has agreed terms with major OTAs booking.com and Expedia, and IHG, to allow OTAs to discount hotel room rates. But discounts will only be offered to those who sign up to a membership scheme, and buy a full price room first.
