• Consumers to holiday more

UK consumers are still wary about spending more on holidays and short breaks. Consumer confidence slipped back in the last quarter of 2013, something that consultants Deloitte believe will soon move positive once more.

Year on year spending on holidays has stabilised, while net spending on short breaks and eating out rose two points in the quarter. Looking forward, the consumers surveyed expect to increase their spend modestly in 2014.
