• Greece rebounds

Greece recorded a double digit increase in international visitors in 2013, and expects a further rise this year. Marketing Greece, the country’s new tourism champion, said 12.7m tourists passed through the main Greek airports last year, up 10.8% on 2012.

Athens and Thessaloniki saw substantial increases in visitors, but the south western airport of Kalmamata experienced a 61.3% rise in passengers. Cruise passengers through Piraeus were up 11.1% and many Greek holiday islands reported a strong increase in visitors.
