• Harrods hotel plan

The Harrods department store brand could soon appear on a chain of luxury hotels. Ahmad al-Sayed, chief executive of Harrods owner the Qatari Investment Authority, has appointed a senior executive to scout for sites, reports the London Times.

London, New York and other prime cities are in the sights of the group, with former Raffles president John Johnston leading the venture. Sites already owned by the emirate may well be favoured as locations.
