M&C buys in Rome

Millennium & Copthorne has agreed a deal to purchase its first Italian hotel. It is paying EUR65.5m for the 87 room Boscolo Palace hotel in Rome.

Versailles sale

Blackstone has sold the Waldorf Astoria Trianon Palace hotel in Versailles, in a deal reckoned to be worth between EUR130-150m. The property has been bought by investor Financiere Immobiliere Bordelaise.

Italian tour operator Alpitour has rebranded its hotels under the new brand VOI Hotels. The group says it will look to take on additional hotels via management contract, lease or franchise routes, mainly in Italy.

Saudi growth for Ibis

Accor has agreed an alliance with a Saudi Arabian developer to open 10 new hotels in the region by 2018. Management contracts for the first three hotels have been signed, creating Ibis hotels in Jeddah and Riyadh.

IHG has signed a pair of new build hotels in Brazil. A 244 room Holiday Inn and 350 room Holiday Inn Express will open in Porto Maravilha in downtown Rio de Janeiro.
