• Morgans makes cuts

Hotel group Morgans has laid off more than a third of its head office staff. The cost cutting purge included senior executives and long standing employees, reports the Wall Street Journal.

Morgans has been under pressure to cut costs, and acting chief executive Jason Kalisman had promised action to reduce overheads. The company has recently settled four lawsuits with private equity investor Ronald Burkle.
