Starwood Capital has acquired the De Vere Venues business for GBP232m. The deal gives Starwood 23 owned and leased properties with 2,433 bedrooms and nine management and franchise contracts.

Shangri-La has announced a 6 May opening for its long-awaited hotel in London’s Shard tower and will take reservations from next week. The lofty hotel will feature a gym and infinity pool on the 52nd floor of the London landmark.

Carlson Rezidor has signed to open a Park Inn hotel in Izmir, Turkey. A 137 room property is scheduled to open in late 2015 next to the Kordon waterfront area of Izmir, overlooking the Aegean.

China Lodging tops expectations

China Lodging increased revenues 26.8% in the fourth quarter and 29.3% for 2013. Overall revpar slipped to RMB160 from RMB175 in the third quarter, due to lower occupancy and a weaker economy.
