• UK govt failing tourism

Government inaction over visitor visas and high airport taxes risks damaging the UK economy. A warning from the World Travel & Tourism Council says government is failing to take tourism seriously, reports the Telegraph.

Tourism grew 3.4% in the UK in 2013, but that rate is set to slow this year as high taxes, poor infrastructure and restrictive access take their toll. In particular, growing Chinese visitor numbers are heading elsewhere, to more tourist friendly destinations.
