Jurys buys freeholds

Hotel group Jurys has bought the freeholds of three of its UK hotels, in a deal estimated at more than EUR10m. Properties in Swindon, Bradford and Sheffield have been bought in a bid to capitalise on improvement in the UK sector, reports the Sunday Times.

Hotels in Cologne and Zurich led European performance in February, with trevpar up 8.8% and 4.3% respectively. Average room rates improved 8.4% in the German city, while Zurich saw occupancy up 5.3%, reports Hotstats.

Mexican REIT FibraHotel has bought two more hotels in Xalapa, Veracruz for its growing portfolio. The company paid MXN213m for the Fiesta Inn and One Xalapa hotels, which will both be expanded.

Hilton has signed to add two further Australian hotels to its DoubleTree format. A 241 room property in Perth and 150 room hotel in Freemantle will open in 2016 and 2017 respectively.
