• Germany for the weekend

Sales growth in Germany’s hotel market is being driven by increases in weekend bookings. Weekend occupancy was up 1.9% in 2013, and 1.7% in the first quarter of 2014, report consultants MKG Group.

Increasing demand has meant prices are also edging up, strengthening 0.8% in the first quarter. The change appears structural rather than temporary, with weekend breaks to German cities growing in popularity.
