• Brisbane shortage

Brisbane in Australia has launched a campaign to attract hotel investors and operators. The city is missing out on an estimated 278,000 room nights a year, due to a shortage of suitable accommodation.

The shortfall is costing AUD114m a year and hampering the city’s ability to attract major events and conferences, say authorities. Independent consultants say the market could absorb 216-330 rooms a year, every year through to 2022.
