Rezidor raises funds
Rezidor has announced a one for six rights issue to raise SEK544m, or around EUR60m. Major shareholder Carlson has committed to take up its rights, accounting for 51.3% of the shares.
B&Bs target AirBnb
Operators of the UK’s bed and breakfast sector are demanding the government regulate accommodation on rival website AirBnb. It has called the rooms sold via the site a “ticking time bomb” due to a lack of safety regulations and inspections, reports the London Times.
France a drag for Accor
Accor saw revenues up 2.1% like for like in the first quarter of 2014, though currency moves pushed reported figures down 5.5%. The French market remained tough, but UK and Germany helped performance in its HotelInvest division.
Customer satisfaction with hotels is slipping, with price rises cited as the main gripe. At the same time, guests perceive no improvement in the amenities they receive, reports Reuters.
Crown bets on Vegas
Australian casino operator Crown Resorts is planning to expand in the USA with a Las Vegas purchase. It will bid up to USD2bn for the city’s Cosmopolitan hotel and entertainment complex, reports Reuters.
