• BBC hotel spend up

UK broadcaster the BBC spent close to GBP29m in the last three years on hotels. Spending was up 32% in the last year, with sporting events such as the World Cup and Commonwealth Games blamed, reports the London Telegraph.

The organisation has refused to reveal which hotels have benefitted from the spend, saying it pays an average GBP100 for a London room and GBP65 in the regions. The BBC is on course to cut GBP700m from overheads annually by 2017.
