• Benchmarking reveals energy waste

Hotel energy use can vary by a factor of five, even for similar hotels in one city. Researchers at Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration reveal the disparity in a newly published report on sustainability.

The project looked at energy use from 2,000 hotels and tested different benchmarking measures. Data needs to be analysed in a harmonised way, in order to spot effective energy saving techniques.
