Hotels in China are simplifying menus as guests cut back on conspicuous consumption. Wedding banquets are increasingly important as government spending on events reduces, reports Reuters.

Since an official crackdown started in 2012, spending per head has dropped 30-40% at the Grand Hyatt in Shanghai. Guests increasingly bring their own beverages into the hotel, rather than buy from the menu.
