Laurent Picheral has been appointed CEO HotelServices Germany, Poland and Central Europe
Laurent has been with Accor since 1997 when he joined the finance department, and held various positions in internal audit, including director of internal group audit from 2000. In 2003, he was appointed finance director of Accor Hotellerie Deutschland GmbH and in 2006 he became managing director in charge of finance, tax, legal affairs and IT for Germany. He has been CEO of Poland since 2010.
Laurent is a graduate of EDHEC Business School. He started his career in 1989 as an auditor with KPMG before moving to Salustro Reydel in 1995 as senior operating director in charge of development.

Steven Daines has been appointed CEO HotelServices United Kingdom, Ireland, Benelux, Switzerland and Russia
Steven started his career with Accor by joining Compagnie des Wagons-lits where he held various operational positions in France and internationally between 1994 and 2005, before being appointed managing director for the economy brands in Latin America.
He has been Managing Director ibis Budget and hotelF1 France since 2012. Steven is a graduate of the University of Geneva and holds an MBA from ESSEC.

Aman Group
Vladislav Doronin has been appointed chief executive officer
Aman Group founder, Adrian Zecha, has stepped down from his position as chairman and CEO, to be replaced by two key appointments.
Vladislav is a world-class property developer who is the chairman and founder of Capital Group, which he started 21 years ago and built into one of the most successful property development companies in Russia. Capital Group’s portfolio comprises over 70 major projects with a total area of over 7 million sq m, including some of Moscow’s new business centres, hotels, residential, retail and mixed-use complexes.

Johan Eliasch has been appointed chairman
Johan is a global business leader with extensive brand-building expertise, and is the chairman and CEO of Head, the global sporting goods group, and is the former special representative of the British prime minister.
Johan is also chairman of Equity Partners, Cool Earth, and London Films and a non- executive director of CV Starr Underwriting Agents. He is the president of Global Strategy Forum, a trustee of Kew Foundation, a member of the Mayors of London’s and Rome’s Business Advisory Councils and an advisory board member of the Centre for Social Justice.

Howard Leigh has been appointed chief financial officer
Howard will assume the role of CFO for Anantara Vacation Club, overseeing the finance functions in all of AVC’s markets. Howard has decades of experience managing finances for some of the world’s top brands. He started his career with KPMG in the UK, before moving to Coca Cola and later Marriott International as vice president global asset management.
Most recently, Howard was CFO at Outback Steakhouse International, a network of over 200 owned, joint-venture and franchised restaurants in 25 countries with over $750 million in sales.

Tim Muir has been appointed vice president of franchise development
Tim will be responsible for the franchise growth of the Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites, Cambria Suites, Sleep Inn and the Ascend Hotel Collection brands, and will report directly to David Pepper, senior vice president, global development.
Tim brings over 25 years of franchise sales and development experience to Choice Hotels, most recently being senior vice president, franchise sales and development for Wyndham Hotel Group. At Wyndham, Tim was responsible for all new construction brands in North America and led an aggressive, strategic approach to create new growth opportunities.

Hyatt Hotels Corporation
David Udell has been appointed group president – ASPAC
David will oversee all of Hyatt’s activities in the region, charged with increasing the company’s brand presence in key ASPAC markets. He most recently served as senior vice president, operations in Hyatt’s global operations centre. Previously, he led Hyatt’s operations in the ASPAC region from its Hong Kong office for 11 years. David’s previous roles included general manager of Grand Hyatt Hong Kong and opening general manager at Park Hyatt Tokyo.
David’s career at Hyatt started in 1982 when he joined Grand Hyatt Singapore as a trainee. He takes over the leadership role from Larry Tchou, a 44-year Hyatt veteran who will assume a newly formed position of senior advisor – Greater China.

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG)
Matthew Tripolone has been appointed to the role of head of development, Australasia
Matthew will lead IHG’s strategic growth and development across its Australasia region, including Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. He joins from Accor where he held the role of general manager, development Pacific, since 2008. Prior to that Matthew worked for leading companies specialising in development, planning and acquisition including Scanna Developments and Urbis.
IHG’s pipeline includes the upcoming opening of the InterContinental Sydney Double Bay and the first Holiday Inn Express in Sydney’s North Ryde. Matthew replaces Phil Kasselis, becomes managing director at investment company Pro Invest, which has partnered with IHG to develop a portfolio of 15 Holiday Inn Express hotels across Australia.

Marriott International
Samir Baidas has been named chief development officer, Middle East and Africa
Samir brings with him a wealth of expertise as a result of ten years within Marriott International. Starting his operations career in 1991 Saudi Arabia, he went on to establish the hospitality and real estate consultancy department at BDO Bahrain Jawad Habib, before rejoining Marriott in 2004 as vice president development.
Earlier in his career he also spent four years in the Arthur Andersen Middle East real estate and hospitality division where he conducted advisory assignments for potential investments in twelve countries.

Philip Bryson has been appointed senior vice president, Middle East and North Africa
Philip will have responsibility for the overall performance of Marriott International’s existing hotels and provide oversight for new build properties across the Middle East and North Africa. He will be responsible for the development and implementation of regional strategies and initiatives, executing brand service strategies, and enhancing owner loyalty.
Philip has had a long and varied career with Marriott International, for over 20 years, spanning the UK, Africa, and Asia. He brings a strong operations background and emerging market experiences to the new role.

Minor Hotel Group
James Kaplan has been appointed senior vice president development
James joins from Fairmont Raffles, where he was SVP development for Asia Pacific and India. He brings extensive experience to the role with his legal background and more than 25 years within the development area of the hospitality industry. During the 1990s, James owned and operated Kaplan Consulting Group, and represented financial institutions, hotel management companies, land owners and governments. After the business was sold in 1998, James joined Marriott in Hong Kong as VP lodging development, and in 2002 moved to Kerzner International as VP development Asia Pacific & Middle East.
James moved to London with Kerzner, as SVP global business development for Kerzner and relocated to London. He was subsequently VP business development & planning EMEA for IHG, and in 2007 joined FRHI as SVP development EMEA.

Michael Mangan has been appointed director of planning and support, APAC
Michael will provide guidance to Outrigger on culinary direction and monitor guest satisfaction. He will also offer planning and support services to new properties during pre-opening periods and advise on kitchen and restaurant design, layout and concept development.
Michael has 34 years experience in hospitality sector, and before joining Outrigger, he held executive chef positions with Park Royal Hotel and Marriott Hotels in Kuala Lumpur. He has been director of food & beverage at Sanya Marriott Resort and Spa in China, and Ihilani Hotel and Resort, Oahu, Hawaii. He worked in Beijing as executive assistant manager of the Regent Hotel and was most recently the general manager of The Shanxxi Capital Club in Changsheung, China.

Martha Poulter has been appointed executive VP & chief information officer
A 25-year technology veteran, Martha was most recently vice president and chief information officer at GE Capital, with global responsibility for IT strategy and operations leading a 4,000-person global organisation.
Since joining General Electric in 1995, Martha held roles including ebusiness vice president, quality leader, and regional Americas chief information officer for GE Capital, where she was responsible for many operational excellence improvements and the completion of key digitization projects.
Martha succeeds Roger Berry, who is retiring but will stay on as a consultant to Starwood to the year end.

Kemal Arif has been appointed chief investment officer and head of business development
Kemal brings expertise in managing complex business development operations and investment opportunities in the real estate and tourism industries. He started his career in London at Merrill Lynch and also worked at Hyde Park Hedge Fund and Morgan Capital Partners. Immediately prior to joining Tavros, Kemal spent three years with the Doyen Group which he co-founded, where he worked across investment and trade in natural resources, real estate development and sports investment.
During his graduate study in Koç University, he spent one year in Ecole de Management in Bordeaux. He graduated from the London School of Economics.

Paulo Pena has been appointed senior vice president and managing director, Latin America
Paulo is responsible for leading Wyndham’s development efforts in Latin America, as well as providing operational, marketing, revenue management and sales services to the company’s franchisees and partners.
Paulo joins Wyndham from Starwood Hotels where he held various roles in operations, strategy, marketing and global partnerships throughout the last decade. Most recently, he was vice president, global partnerships, responsible for developing, negotiating and executing cross-functional strategic alliances and partnerships.
