• UK outlook improves
May saw hoteliers in the south east of the UK enjoy a 4.9% growth in goppar, while the provinces saw growth for the fifth month in a row. Room rates improved 4.7%, offsetting a 0.3% fall in occupancy, report Hotstats.

Glasgow experienced a strong performance with occupancy at a peak 85.2% and rate up 11.9% to GBP75.41. Also working well were hotels in Chester, which saw goppar up 24.2%, despite rising overheads and agency commissions.
