Europe’s tourism industry is turning its back on EUR142bn of business, by failing to accommodate travellers with special access needs. A report from the University of Surrey says poor infrastructure, services and attitudes mean disabled and elderly visitors are missing out, reports Travel Weekly. 

While small businesses frequently focus on the cost of adapting, the payback is often substantial. Both private and public sector partners need to work on small changes that will reap rewards, says the research.
