• Consumer confidence up
UK consumers are planning to spend more on holidays and short breaks in 2014. But the intentions have yet to materialise into bookings, with buyers holding back for a late bargain, report consultants Deloitte. 

The company’s consumer tracker sees sentiment about disposable income improving, with spending on short breaks and eating out up 5 points in the last quarter. Spending is expected to rise a further 8 points in the next quarter.
