• Grosvenor House bid
Indian business family the Poonawallas have bid GBP550m to buy the Grosvenor House hotel in London from embattled owner Sahara Group. The family, part of India’s “business royalty” has made the offer to allow Sahara owner Subrata Roy to clear court debts, reports India’s Economic Times.

Rumours suggest rival bids have also been made by groups linked to the Qatari royal family and the Sultan of Brunei. The Poonawallas have said they are only interested in the London trophy, and will not buy Sahara’s US hotels.
