Grosvenor House bid


Indian business family the Poonawallas have bid GBP550m to buy the Grosvenor House hotel in London from embattled owner Sahara Group. The family, part of India’s “business royalty” has made the offer to allow Sahara owner Subrata Roy to clear court debts, reports India’s Economic Times.

Hilton has signed to put its Conrad brand on a 256 room hotel in Westminster, London. A deal with owner Supreme Hotels will see the former InterContinental reflagged and opened in September.

DoubleTree for Minsk


Hilton has signed to open a DoubleTree hotel in Minsk, the brand’s debut in Belarus. The 194 room hotel will form 14 floors of a 21 storey block in the city centre, opening in mid 2015.

Hotel occupancy in areas of Israel has dropped as low as 30%, as tourists stay away fearing increasing hostilities in the area. Red Sea resorts such as Eilat are losing out, as well as areas closer to Israeli-Palestinian tensions, reports Bloomberg.
