Ctrip winning mobile battle


Shanghai based Ctrip, China’s biggest travel website, grew its hotel booking business 67% last quarter. The company is stealing market share from rival Elong, whose top shareholder is Expedia, reports Bloomberg.

Aparthotel operator Roomzzz has bought a Nottingham hotel for conversion. The 96 room Welbeck will be refurbished early next year to create 106 apartments before reopening in April 2015.

Choice Hotels has linked with carmaker Ford to provide an in-car app to make hands-free hotel reservations. The facility works with 1.5 million newer Ford cars, and will work in 7 million newly manufactured vehicles by 2015.

IHG has signed a deal to open a second Crowne Plaza hotel in Noida, northern India. Partner Sikka will develop the 150 room Taj Expressway Noida hotel for opening in 2018.
