Abu Dhabi recovers


June increases in occupancy and room rate mean Abu Dhabi hotels have recorded a strong first half performance, with revpar up 6.8% over the period. Jeddah saw room rates up 15.5% in June while Doha also enjoyed increasing occupancy, report TRI Consulting Middle East.

Select serves Hyatt


Hyatt saw systemwide revpar improve 5.5% in the second quarter, though margins at owned and leased hotels slipped. Select service hotels in the US led the way with revpar up 8.4%.

Latin America boost for Host


A strong performance in Latin America saw revpar there up 16.2% in the second quarter at Host. Across the group, a 4.1% increase in room rates fed through to a 5.1% increase in revpar.

Australian leisure operator James Packer is in talks to launch a new Las Vegas project. His Crown Resorts vehicle is tipped to develop a site once occupied by the New Frontier hotel and casino, reports Bloomberg.

Accor Brisbane duo


Accor is planning a further pair of hotels at Brisbane airport. Work starts in the new year on a 130 room Pullman and 243 room Ibis, with openings planned in late 2016.
