UK regions pick up


Hotel investment deals in the regional UK add up to GBP1.1bn so far this year, and will hit GBP2bn by the year end. Investors are heading out of London due to a lack of opportunities in the capital, reports agent Savills.

Accor has signed five new hotels across the UK. The first of the planned London openings will be a 202 room Novotel in Brentford, west London.

Marriott has signed to open a second hotel in Belarus. The Marriott Minsk will have 220 rooms, and is scheduled to open in early 2015 near the recently launched Renaissance Minsk.

Sahara bid denied


The Sultan of Brunei has ruled out any interest in buying the Grosvenor House in London and New York Plaza hotels. A statement from his office says he is definitely not interested in bidding for the assets, reports Reuters.
