Hotels in provincial UK continued to see the market improve in July, with goppar up 22.2% for hotels in the north west. The region pushed average rates up 11.5% and enjoyed occupancy up 3.1% at 80.8%, reports Hotstats.

In York, the start of the Tour de France cycle race helped hoteliers to lift room rates 12.7%, sending trevpar up 9.5%. In the capital London, profits slipped for the third month in a row.
